Who I am
I'm an expert software engineer with over a decade of experience building large
user-facing applications for leading tech companies such as Oracle and Ford.
These include backend servers, modern high-quality web applications, and leading
teams of engineers and the development process - working with any stakeholders to
help design and deliver the best solutions possible.
What I do, more or less
I am an expert fullstack developer with the JVM and TypeScript backends and web
frontends. I have significant experience working with business units to
establish product needs and timelines, plan out technical roadmaps, and
mentor junior engineers. I have lead research to evaluate new technologies and
languages and lead adoption across multiple services and domains, including at
large companies like Oracle and Ford.
Frontend
I have worked with a variety of systems for frontend, but most of my
experience is with the web, particularly modern web libraries like
Vue, React, and Angular.
I have delivered on a variety of interactive
web applications and traditional serverside web applications alike, including:
- Oracle's next generation AI-powered Electronic Health Record (EHR)
- Oncology data analysis tools at Project Ronin
- Custom integrated CRM and smart sales assistant tool
- Account management and payment apps for a variety of state and local governments
Backend
I am an expert in Java, Kotlin, JavaScript, and TypeScript with some experience in Clojure.
I have extensive experience with frameworks such as Spring Boot and Dropwizard.
I have also worked with a variety of other libraries and tools across ecosystems
including tools such as ktor, Express, Next.js, kafka, kinesis, serverless functions,
and a variety of SQL and NoSQL databases.
In team-lead positions I have overseen and delivered on projects such as:
- Pharmacy order routing and management at Oracle Health
- Converting Ford's fleet telemetry systems from an outdated system to a modern Kotlin stack
- Automating lengthy manual validation of customer data with a variety of partner databases
- Medication search databases with advanced fuzzy search and synonym matching
- Whitelabel billing system compatible with a variety of third party data sources
My specialty
Much of my career has been focused on designing and building safe, scalable, and
reliable systems across healthcare, payments, government records, and enterprise
applications. My experience includes both reliable and secure backend systems and
modern interactive web applications with an expert delivery on performance and
accessibility.
I thrive when challenged to build a project that requires a level of technical expertise
and problem-solving that would frustrate and discourage others and pride myself on not only
delivering, but delivering to the highest standards of quality.
